Police have saturated the CBD area following an incident where a car has collided with a number of pedestrians on Flinders Street.

The incident occurred when the vehicle struck a number of pedestrians in front of Flinders Street Station just after 4.30pm.

The driver of the vehicle and a second man have been arrested and are in police custody.

A number of people were treated at the scene for a range of injuries and have been transported to hospital.

A crime scene has been established and all vehicular and pedestrian traffic are advised to avoid the area.

A Melbourne shopping center in Frankston has been evacuated after a gas explosion occurred nearby.

Victoria’s Country Fire Authority has confirmed it is responding to reports of a gas bottle explosion near the Bayside Shopping Centre.

“There is a fire at Bob Jane T Marts Cnr Beach St & Dandenong Rd FRANKSTON,” Victoria’s Country Fire Authority said. “A number of forklift gas cylinders are involved in fire.”

“There is currently no threat to the community, but you should continue to stay informed and monitor conditions.” it said.

Bob Jane T-Marts is located across the road from the Bayside Shopping Centre.

7 News Melbourne reports the situation is now under control and shoppers have been allowed back inside the shopping center.
