Remember, the TR-3B was designed to be a subsonic stealth spy plane. As with many divergent aviation technologies, anti-gravity technology dates back to the latter part and aftermath of World War II, and specifically the covert U.S. project known as Operation Paperclip.
That means the U.S. has been investigating anti-gravity technology for nearly 80 years.
SoTW has talked about this subject 100s of times on my blog. I've not seen a TR-3 B's or TR-4's IRL as a former soldier, but I can ensure you, Black triangles, are very real and US soldiers knows about it and have seen it.
It uses highly pressured mercury accelerated by nuclear energy to produce a plasma that creates a field of anti-gravity around the ship. Conventional thrusters located at the tips of the craft allow it to perform all manner of rapid high speed maneuvers along all three axes.
Aurora is the most classified aerospace development program in existence. The TR-3B is the most exotic vehicle created by the Aurora Program. It is funded and operationally tasked by the National Reconnaissance Office, the NSA, and the CIA. The TR-3B flying triangle is not fiction and was built with technology available in the mid-80s.
