The charged Red Dust in the atmosphere is a factor in the sparking that can occur, with or without lightning. Note how the Petrol burn moves along through the cloud.

The chemical reaction that takes place when these resources are combusted results in carbon dioxide (CO2), water (H2O), and energy (in the form of heat).
