Ida Auken was Minister for the Environment of Denmark from 2011-14. Auken entered politics in 2004 and was elected to the Danish Parliament in 2007 where she has held a number of positions related to the environmental agenda, including Spokeswoman for Environmental Affairs, Member of the Energy Policy Committee, and Member of the Environment and Regional Planning Committee. During her political career, she has played a vital role in shaping Danish environmental policies. Auken has held a number of honorary positions, including at the non-partisan think tank Forum Europe and as a Member of the Albright Group Women's Network. Prior to politics, she worked as an editor and published a number of books, particularly on theological subjects. Auken holds an MA in Theology from the University of Copenhagen. She has served on the Executive Committee of the Interdisciplinary Lecture Society at the University of Copenhagen and as Vice-Chair of the Board of Studies in the Department of Theology.
