A conference aimed at disputing the idea that the world is round just wrapped up in North Carolina.

The first-ever 2017 Flat Earth International Conference (FEIC) was held in Raleigh on Nov. 9 and 10, featuring some of the big names in round-Earth denial. Among the speakers were Darryle Marble, who once took a level on a plane to "prove" the Earth doesn't curve; Mark Sargent, the creator of the Flat Earth Clues YouTube Series, who believes all life is enclosed in a "Truman Show"-like dome structure; and Jeran Campanella, a YouTube and online radio personality, who makes flat-Earth, 9/11 Truther and other conspiracy theory videos. The conference was hosted by Kryptoz Media, which produces DVDs and other media arguing that "scientism" is an agenda designed to keep people from God, and the Creation Cosmology Institute, an organization with little online footprint except a now-deleted YouTube channel.

The conference featured talks such as "NASA and Other Space Lies," "Flat Earth with the Scientific Method," "Waking Up to Mainstream Science Lies" and "Testing the Globe." The conference organizer, Kryptoz Media's Robbie Davidson, is a Christian creationist, and that philosophy emerged in sessions such as "Flat Earth & The Bible" and "Exposing Scientism," the latter of which decried evolution and the Big Bang theory of the universe's origin.

Fans of the infamous Flat Earth Theory gathered together over the weekend for a convention in, of all places, New Zealand. Similar to UFO symposiums and Bigfoot confabs, the Auckland-based Flat Earth NZ Expo featured a number of prominent figures in the field as well as attendees from around the 'questionably-shaped' world who are advocates for the controversial conspiracy theory. Although specific attendance figures for the event are unavailable, Oskar Howell, a reporter who covered the event on site, described the venue was "filled with people," which suggests that, like it's predecessors in North America and England, the convention was a rousing success.

Noting to one media outlet that "ninety percent of our membership is in the closet," with regards to their Flat Earth fandom, researcher Mark Sargent credited the Expo as being a place where adherents to the conspiracy theory can speak freely about the much-maligned concept. However, Howell offered the intriguing and somewhat contrasting observation that, as an outsider, he sensed a "tense, almost hostile" atmosphere in which attendees seemingly didn't quite trust each other for fear that they were still being judged for their beliefs despite the decidedly pro-Flat Earth environment. One hopes that these misgivings largely melted away as attendees spent more time together and realized that they were, indeed, among 'fellow travelers.'

While New Zealand may sound like a far-flung location for a Flat Earth event, the country actually appears to have quite the burgeoning community of supporters for the theory. A Facebook group attached to the Expo has nearly 2,000 members and, back in 2017, one particularly enthusiastic advocate for the idea went so far to place a 'Research Flat Earth' sign beside a popular beach. And, perhaps spurred on by the successful event this past weekend, convention organizer Adrienne Morrison revealed that New Zealanders who support the Flat Earth theory hope to get a meeting with the country's Education Minister in an attempt to get the conspiracy theory included in school curriculums.

I’m really sick of this Flat Earth B.S.

The reason you see the North Star and the Big Dipper all year long is because they are in the Northern Hemisphere (Half Sphere).

If the Earth was flat you could see the Southern Cross all year long…

However the Southern Cross is in the Southern Hemisphere. Not visible in the North.

People above the equator can not see the Southern Cross unless they travel SOUTH of the equator!

Australian Flag depicts the Southern Cross because it is viable from the southern hemisphere.

Australia is in the southern hemisphere.

Suddenly, after 1961, SAS 'NEVER' went over the North Pole again, due to irregularities in flight instruments.. However, some say it was because of what they discovered, perhaps the entrance to Hollow Earth or NASA blacklisted the area......

‘Nice try, Earth is flat’: Conspiracy theorists can’t handle first ever 360 space video


In space nobody can hear you scream, but back on Earth in the RT comment section the outcry of reality-rejecting flat earthers is loud and clear. Space exploration is a conspiracy, they say, and not even a groundbreaking spacewalk 360 will convince them otherwise.

The first-ever 360-degree footage captured during a spacewalk gives people an astronaut’s eye view of the planet from outside the International Space Station.

It was filmed in August by cosmonauts Sergey Ryazansky and Fedor Yurchikhin as they carried out hours of maintenance work on the low-orbit space hub.

While the breathtaking footage gives people the chance to gawk at the spherical beauty of our world, and view places such as the US and Cuba from above the surly bonds of Earth, not everyone is convinced it’s real.

A number of people, who apparently subscribe to the pre-3rd Century belief system that the world is a flat disk, have cried foul, labelling the footage ‘fake’ and the product of CGI.
“Lots of clipping in this CGI, should have spent longer on the rendering. Also you forgot to paint in the stars,” one person wrote on the RT website.

The flat-Earth rocketeer remains planet-bound.

"Mad" Mike Hughes, a flat-Earth conspiracy theorist who has managed to get significant attention for his now-repeated failed rocket launches, strapped himself into his second homemade rocket Saturday (Feb. 3). But, as Noize TV documented in an excruciating 11-minute livestream of the event, Hughes' rocket never left its pad.

His stated plan, as Live Science previously reported, is to launch himself 1,800 feet (550 meters) above the desert in California and take photos before bailing out in a parachute. These photos, shot from a height anyone can reach by climbing a very tall building or even a small mountain, will, Hughes claims, show that the Earth is flat.

In fact, it's pretty easy for anyone to show that the Earth is round with a simple experiment — though the planet's curvature doesn't become visible to the naked eye until a height of about 35,000 feet (10,700 m).

Hughes canceled his previous launch after the Bureau of Land Management caught wind that he planned to crash his rocket into public land. In a video posted to YouTube, Hughes claimed that Saturday's failure resulted from a faulty plunger or a blown o-ring. However, he added that the details will remain unclear until the rocket cools down and he opens it up to examine it in detail.


Hughes went on to say that the launch could still happen this week — though he does have to be in court Tuesday because he's suing a range of California officials, from Gov. Jerry Brown to U.S. Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif.

"It's just aggravating," he told a small crowd of reporters. "I mean, what do you do?"
