Today is the day Hurricane Matthew will hit Florida


Late Thursday. That's when this hurricane will make landfall in the U.S. As of 2 p.m., ET Thursday, Matthew had intensified to a Category 4 storm, with sustained winds ranging from 130 mph to 156 mph, according to the U.S. National Hurricane Center (NHC).

The storm was centered about 125 miles east southeast of West Palm Beach, Florida, and moving northwest toward the state at 14 mph, according to the NHC.

How bad will the storm be when it hits?


Bad. The National Hurricane Center upgraded Matthew to a Category 4 storm, with maximum sustained winds of 140 mph. Florida Gov. Rick Scott says to expect threatening winds as strong as 150 mph, storm surges up to 9 feet and widespread power outages.

In Washington, President Obama declared a state of emergency in more than two dozens Florida counties as the potentially catastrophic storm approached.

The directive authorizes the Department of Homeland Security and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to coordinate efforts to alleviate the suffering caused by the hurricane.

About Corey

A “wandering” black hole more than 100,000 times the mass of the sun has been found on the outskirts of a galaxy about 4.5 billion light years from Earth.

Astronomers suspect that it was originally located at the center of a smaller galaxy, but was displaced during a collision with a larger one. The discovery gives credence to a long standing theory about the existence of wandering black holes.
Black holes - objects with such intense gravitational pull that nothing can escape from them, not even light - come in a range of sizes. Astronomers think that supermassive black holes (from 100,000 to 10 billion times the sun’s mass) or intermediate mass black holes (up to 100,000 times the mass of our sun) sit in the center of most galaxies.

However they can be ‘ejected’ from their position following a collision and merger with another galaxy containing a massive black hole, creating a “wandering” black hole.

A new study, published in The Astrophysical Journal, reports the discovery of one of these “wandering” black holes towards the edge of the lenticular galaxy GJ1417+52, which is about 4.5 billion light years from Earth.

Black holes themselves are not be visible, but astronomers can spot them by detecting the damage they do to their surroundings.

In this case, a star came too close to the black hole, named XJ1417+52, and was completely destroyed. This encounter generated a huge amount of X-rays, which were detected by NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory and ESA’s XMM-Newton X-ray observatory.

Here is a cool sighting I found, but it dates back to April of this year and has never been seen outside of Asia yet.

A man and woman in the car come to a stop and they are heard saying "Fay-de-aya," which means UFO in Chinese. She then says to get out and record it, which he agrees is a good idea.

A crowd builds up in the middle of a highway in the Chinese city of Guangzhou. The street quickly becomes a parking lot on both sides as many people get out of the cars and start recording the UFO with their cell phones.

If you turn up the volume at the end of the video, you can easily hear a man up ahead panicking suddenly, which causes his girlfriend to scream in fear. Yes, Asians do get more afraid of the unknown than Americans...its a cultural thing you will notice if you ever travel to Asia. The video flashes and then stops, probably because it came to the end of its 3 min loop that many car cams have in Asia (mine does). At the end of every 3 minutes, it saves and on SD card and records a new one.

Overall this is a fantastic example of big UFO over China. Why don't we see more videos of it? Because it takes a brave person to post something unknown on the internet that might get you and your family arrested in China, since the Chinese government probably considers such videos to be top secret, and a threat to their national security.

I also noticed, if you make if full screen, that the UFO wobbles as its moving, much like the old 1950s movies. It is a disk, so perhaps the disk is spinning as it moves, as many have been reported to do.

With the official opening ceremony conducted this morning, the solar energy system developed by Aalborg CSP is already producing renewable energy and desalinated fresh water to secure the production of 17,000,000kg sustainable tomatoes a year - this accounts for approximately 15% of Australia’s entire tomato market.

What sounds like a utopian solution to the world’s increasing food security concerns has now become reality with the official opening of a revolutionary arid-farming plant. On the 6th of October, Sundrop Farms, a pioneer in sustainable agriculture for the arid world, inaugurated their 200,000m2 state-of-the-art greenhouses in Port Augusta (SA). Contrary to conventional food production facilities, Sundrop Farms’ glasshouses do not rely on fossil fuels and freshwater resources. Instead, they use sunlight and seawater to grow 17,000,000kg vegetables a year in an area that has traditionally been unsuitable for agriculture.

To satisfy the greenhouses dynamic energy needs, Danish renewable energy specialist, Aalborg CSP developed a customized Integrated Energy System based on the concentrated solar power (CSP) technology – the first one in the world to supply multiple energy streams (heating, electricity and desalinated water) for horticultural activities. With the final ribbon-cutting ceremony taking place, the solar energy system has also been put into full-time operation today, meeting the expected operational deadline defined at the project start.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has raised concerns over ballooning global debt that has reached 225 percent of the world’s gross domestic product (GDP), which could lead to financial crises.

“At 225 percent of world GDP, the global debt …is currently at an all-time high. Two-thirds, amounting to about $100 trillion, consists of liabilities of the private sector which can carry great risks when they reach excessive levels,” the IMF said.

In 2002, global debt stood at 200 percent of the global GDP.

“The sheer size of debt could set the stage for an unprecedented private deleveraging process that could thwart the fragile economic recovery,” said the Washington-based fund.
