OLAF has accused Messerschmidt of delaying-tactics and not responding to its enquiries, reports TV2 Nyheder. “We asked in writing for an explanation a year ago. Meld og Feld har kanaliseret EU-midler for 4,4 millioner kroner til uretmæssige aktiviteter, konkluderer EU's svindeljægerkontor (Olaf) efter fire års efterforskning.

Sagen, som omfatter aktiviteter i flere EU-lande, overdrages nu til bagmandspolitiet, bekræfter en talsmand for Olaf til Ritzau.

Lidt under en fjerdedel af beløbet er allerede tilbagebetalt, hedder det i rapporten.

Olaf afslutter sagen med en anbefaling om tilbagebetaling til EU-Parlamentet.

- Olaf har også sendt efterforskningsrapporten til de kompetente juridiske myndigheder, så de kan følge op, siger talskvinde Jana Cappello hos Olaf.

Efterforskningen blev indledt i december 2015. Sagen har ifølge Olaf været meget kompleks.

- Det skyldes blandt andet antallet af lande, som Meld og Feld var aktive i, men også antallet af personer, som blev efterforsket og bredden af de aktiviteter, som har krævet verificering, siger talskvinden.
