Believing this story requires an open mind about extraterrestrial life: Clay tablets, ancient writings, and images from the Sumerian civilization—which emerged around 6000 BCE—reveal a belief in the Anunnaki (giant and powerful Babylonian earth spirits or genii). 

This collective term describes heavenly and earthly gods born from the sky god An and the earth goddess Ki. While mythology states these giant deities descended from the heavens, alternative theories suggest our first "visiting friends" actually arrived on Earth more than 450,000 years ago. 

Some interpretations of these texts suggest that Anunnaki males had sexual relations with terrestrial women (often linked to the biblical Nephilim or "sons of God" narratives), which was sometimes described as a violation of divine prohibitions or an act of "alien manipulation."
